Brendan Hay

August 31, 2022

Brendan Hay is a pop-culture fiend. When not devouring movies, comics, shows, and albums, he is also a TV writer. Currently, Brendan is the Executive Producer of “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai” for WB Animation/HBO Max. Previously, he was the showrunner of “Dawn of the Croods” and “Harvey Girls Forever!,” both from DreamWorks Animation for Netflix. Brendan has also written for “Robot Chicken” (twice Emmy nominated), “The Simpsons,” “The Mighty Ones,” and “The Mighty B!,” and was a headline producer for “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart during most of the Bush administration. He was also a contributing writer to “America: The Book,” and the head writer on Lucasfilm Animation’s animated comedy “Star Wars Detours.” Brendan was once even called the “Best Svengali of Animation” by SF Weekly. He’s still not sure what that means, but chooses to take it as a compliment. A lifelong comic book fan, Brendan wrote the graphic novel “Rascal Raccoon’s Raging Revenge” for Oni Press, as well as the comics “Scream Queen” and “Eureka” for BOOM! Studios. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, YA novelist and fellow panelist Jennifer Chen, their twins, two pugs, and a cat named Gremmy.
