The Great Pop Culture Debate podcast is going LIVE! For our first event, the topic is Best Pop Music Diva — and we need YOUR help in determining which amazing women in music are up for the title!
Below find a list of roughly 100 legendary women in music. We were broad in our definition of “pop music” and “diva” here. We included singers from a wide variety of pop and pop-crossover genres, including country, r&b, alternative, rock, and soul. We tried to incorporate “divas” from every decade since the advent of pop music. They just had to meet the following criteria:
-Have significant success as a solo artist (no frontwomen for bands)
-Have more than one smash hit in America
-Identify as a woman

Go through the list below and pick up to 32 of your favorite pop-music divas. How do you define “best”? That’s entirely up to you! The artists who receive the most votes will be added to a bracket and debated at the first Great Pop Culture Debate LIVE! And that’s not all — the decisions will be made by the audience in attendance at the event. They’ll vote live on each match-up, make passionate arguments about who should advance, and ultimately pick our Best Pop Music Diva!
