Teens of the 1980s were blessed with some of the most memorable coming-of-age films ever. They were bold, they were brash, and while they varied wildly in tone and subject matter, they defined what teenagers looked and acted like for not only their peers, but for teens (and adults) in subsequent generations to come. Forty years later, some of these films are considered critical pop-culture touchstones, while others are appreciated as cult classics. Now, the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast wants to determine the Best Teen Movie of the 1980s — and we need YOUR opinions!
Below find a list of every teen-focused movie from the 1980s we could think of. These include comedies and dramas, horror and action films, and everything in between. The defining characteristic was that the protagonist, or key characters, had to be teenagers, from junior high up through early college age, generally dealing with some kind of coming-of-age issue.
