POLL: Best Horror Movie Franchise

June 11, 2023

Our episode devoted to the Best Horror Movie Franchise is now available! Click here to find out the results of this poll, and to learn which scary-movie series the panel named the best of all time.

Horror has been embraced by the film industry almost since its beginnings. The moving image is ideally suited to evoke the chills and thrills inherent in the genre. And perhaps greater than any other genre, horror has evolved over the ensuing century, reinventing itself so that it continues to compel new audiences long after monsters and maniacs and demons lose their fright value over subsequent generations.

Many of these horror properties have resonated so intensely, they’ve spawned long-running film franchises that have spawn new films over and over again, some going on for decades themselves. Now, for Season 8, the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast wants to consider those scare factories, as we determine the best horror franchise of all time. And we want YOUR opinions!

Below find a list of some of the most iconic horror franchises of all times. Pick your favorites — select as many as you like. (If you’re using a mobile device, we recommend taking the poll here for ease of use.) For the purposes of this episode, we consider a franchise as having more than one film in the series, and we are not including related TV series. Additionally, we are focusing on American horror franchises, acknowledging that the international horror scene is robust and has many incredible entries. We may focus on those in a future episode of the podcast.

Did we miss your favorite horror franchise? Add it to in the space provided. Then send to your horror-loving friends and have them take a stab at the poll.

The poll will run until July 15. Make sure to submit your answer by then!

The 32 top vote-getters will be discussed in Season 8 of the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast, dropping in fall 2023. Find out more at greatpopculturedebate.com.
