POLL: Best Film of 1999

December 7, 2022

Thanks for your interest in this topic! The poll is now closed, but you can check out the episode of the podcast in which we discuss the results by clicking here.

For film fans, the last year of the 20th Century really had everything. A career-launching suspense from M. Night Shyamalan. An indie smash that created the “found footage” horror genre. Some of the most iconic teen dramas ever made. Julia Roberts fully Julia Robertsing. And the return of a sci-fi franchise that would keep running ever since. There’s so much to choose from, and for Season 7, the Great Pop Culture Debate wants to dig in to determine the Best Film of 1999 — and we need your input!

Below find a list of just about every major film released in American theaters from January 1, 1999, through December 31, 1999. (You can also take the poll here.) We included film from any genre, and included international and indie films when we felt they had sufficient buzz. Go through the list, select your favorites — pick as many as you’d like! — then send to friends and family to have them take it. The more votes we receive the better! Did we miss your favorite? Add it in the space provided below, and we may discuss it in the episode!

The 32 top vote-getters will be discussed on Season 7 of the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast, dropping in spring/summer 2023. Find out more at greatpopculturedebate.com.
