A long time ago (technically the 1970s), in a galaxy far, far away (OK, in California), an aspiring filmmaker named George Lucas created a dozen or so protagonists and antagonists for his sci-fi space opera. Nearly 50 years, countless films, TV shows, video games, novels, action figures, and comic books, and literally BILLIONS of dollars later, it is safe to say that his Star Wars creations changed the landscape of pop culture if ways no one — not even wise Jedi masters — could have predicted. And now, the Great Pop Culture Debate wants to determine: who is the Best Star Wars Character ever? And we want YOUR opinions!
Below find a list of 100 or so of the most notable characters from the Star Wars universe. (You can also take the poll by clicking here.) These could be from the films, the TV series, the video games, the comic books — doesn’t matter. If they’re canon, they’re game. Note that we said CANON, as we’re not considering characters that were introduced during the “Extended Universe” line pre-Disney takeover, which is no longer considered official (sorry, Mara Jade fans). Take the poll, pick your 32 favorite characters, and then share this with your fellow Star Wars fans. The more votes we have, the better the discussion!
Did we miss your favorite character? We can’t include them all. But if you write them in below, we’ll try to discuss them in the pre-show warm-up for the episode.
The 32 top vote-getters will be discussed in Season 4 of the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast. For related content, like Best “Game of Thrones” Character, check out the Episodes section at the top of this page.
